Wolves’ Eric O’Dell Named Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week
The Ontario Hockey League announced that forward Eric O’Dell of the Sudbury Wolves is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending September 27. O’Dell led the Wolves to three wins this week scoring three goals and four assists for seven points with a plus-minus rating of plus-2 in three games.
In his first game Friday night against the Barrie Colts, O’Dell scored a goal and an assist in the Wolves 4-3 comeback win. The next night, O’Dell had the game-winner at 4:23 of the second period, and followed up with 2 assists; leading to the first start of the game in a 7-1 win. He continued his hot streak on Sunday night against Oshawa in a 4-3 overtime win. O’Dell scored a goal and an assist once again en route to being the games second star.
O’Dell, a 19-year-old from Ottawa, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the Wolves. He is a prospect of the Atlanta Thrashers but was drafted as a second round selection, 39th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2008.

Jonathan Hazen of the Val-d’Or Foreurs Named CHL Players of the Week
The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Jonathan Hazen of the Val-d’Or Foreurs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending September 27 for recording eight points including two goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-4 in four games.
Hazen started his week in Tuesday against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, pitching in with two assists in a 7-4 loss. On Thursday, Hazen had an assist on the game-winning goal against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. On Friday, he added another assist against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. He then exploded with a four-point night Saturday in a rematch against the Drakkar. He was named third star of the game after compiling two goals and two assists.
The 19 year old Val-Belair, QC native is now leading the CHL in scoring with four goals and ten assists for 14 points in eight games.

Wheat Kings’ Andrew Hayes Named CHL Goaltender of the Week
The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Andrew Hayes of the Brandon Wheat Kings is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending September 27. Hayes was perfect in two starts making 41 saves to earn two shutout victories with a 0.000 goals-against-average and a save percentage of 1.000.
Hayes started his stellar run Friday night against the Swift Current Broncos. He made 16 saves and was named the third star of the game in a 3-0 win. The following night, he shutout the Moose Jaw warriors 4-0 making 25 saves en route to first star of the game. One of the most impressive statistics however is that he is approaching the WHL record for consecutive shutouts of four games currently held by Chris Worthy of the Flin Flon Bombers set in 1968.
Hayes, a 19-year-old from Sherwood Park, AB, is in his third WHL season with the Wheat Kings. In four games so far this season for the hosts of the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup, Hayes has posted a goals-against-average of 1.50 with a save percentage of .943.
