Rivalries…The Backbone of the NHL (Pt.4)

Thanks to Ashley for her contributions to the segment last week.  Check it out if you haven’t read it yet!

This week’s entry comes from Anthony Grossi from TheFourthPeriod.  He brings his top three rivalries that he is most looking forward to this season.

3. Toronto vs. Montreal

This rivalry is alive again and going to be better then ever. With both these teams restructuring, a lot of new faces have entered the system and have been given a chance to crack the line up.I believe that this rivalry is going to be reborn. It has been very quiet in the last few years but watch out for fireworks when these two teams collide.

2. CANADA vs. Russia

Many people have been waiting for these to international teams to be as good as they are again. When they face off against each other there are going to be some serious fireworks. Most of this is due to the players who play in the NHL but some has to do with the history of these two teams.Russia will do anything it takes to beat Canada and Canada will do everything in their power to stop them. The 2010 Olympics are going to be very exciting to watch.

1. Crosby vs. OV8

This rivalry is going to be brought to a whole new level this year after Sid won the cup. The debate of who the better player is will never come to rest for as long as this two are playing in the NHL.In my opinion I would give Crosby the slight upper hand now that he has a championship under his belt.Watch for these two players and their respected teams to create a real buzz for the NHL fans.

Thanks again to Anthony for his contributions.  For all the great work TheFourthPeriod is doing, slide on over to their website @ http://www.thefourthperiod.com
