This is one of my favourite hockey pictures of all time. It’s disturbingly powerful. Luckily for Malarchuk he did survive the cut to his carotid artery thanks to the heroic efforts of team athletic trainer, and Vietnam veteran, Jim Pizzutelli who, reportedly, reached into Clint’s neck and pinched the artery shut until doctors could arrive.
