Montreal Juniors Trevor Parkes Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Trevor Parkes of the Montreal Juniors is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 8.  Parkes scored five goals with two assists for seven points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-6.

Parkes began his week on Wednesday night with the best game of his season scoring his first career hat-trick where he was named first star of the game despite a 5-4 loss to the Lewiston MAINEiacs.  On Friday night he repeated as first star of the game this time registering two assists in a 4-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques.  His week finished on Sunday helping the Juniors secure a 5-2 win over the Quebec Remparts scoring the game-winning goal on the power play at 10:09 of the second period, and later adding the insurance marker into the empty net at 18:35 of the third period for his team-leading 13th goal of the season.

Parkes, an 18-year-old from Fort Erie, ON, is playing in his first QMJHL season with the Juniors.  The rookie leads his club in scoring with 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in 21 games.

Spokane Chiefs’ James Reid Named CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that James Reid of the Spokane Chiefs is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 8.  Reid finished the week with a 3-0-0-0 record posting a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .962.

Reid began his week on Wednesday night as the Chiefs hosted the Chilliwack Bruins.  After allowing the game’s opening goal midway through the first period, Reid shut the door and stopped 24 shots in the 5-1 comeback win.  On Friday night the Chiefs took to the road to take on the Seattle Thunderbirds where Reid again gave up the game’s opening goal, this time late in the second period on the power play, but finished the game with 28 saves in total as first star of the game in the 3-1 comeback win.  His week finished at home Saturday night where he made 24 saves in a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Giants.

Reid, an 18-year-old from Calgary, AB, is playing in his second WHL season with the Chiefs.  He currently has a record of 8-4-1-0 with one shutout and has the sixth best goals-against-average in the league at 2.46 with a save percentage of .910.
