On Wednesday, the St. Louis Blues assigned defenceman Alex Pietrangelo to the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League.

The 19-year-old Pietrangelo had a goal and an assist in nine games this season with the Blues.  This is the second time he has been sent down before the NHL cut off date, as he began last season with the Blues as well, playing eight games.

Pietrangelo was a stud on the blueline for Team Canada in his second consecutive appearance at the World Junior Championships, leading all defenceman with three goals and nine assists for 12 points.

Pietrangelo was drafted fourth overall at the 2008 draft by the Blues.
