Welcome to Team Canada Ryan Getzlaf. Again.
Reports from this afternoon indicate that Philadelphia Flyers forward Jeff Carter has been told to fly home by executive director Steve Yzerman, albeit assuring Getzlaf that his position is safe on the Canadian roster.
There was uncertainty about Getzlaf’s injured ankle after he missed two games with the Anaheim Ducks this past week. All of that was put to rest last night, as Getzlaf scored four points in a 7-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
Getzlaf flew out to Vancouver after the game and met with Steve Yzerman. It was decided that he would be re-examined by the Team Canada doctors this morning, and a decision would be made.
Final rosters for all hockey teams are due by 3 pm eastern/12 pm pacific time today.
