Taylor…. Tyler…..The debate is finally over.

With the first selection of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft the Edmonton Oilers selected Taylor Hall from the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL.

“I was so shocked,” said Hall minutes after being picked. “I was shaking in my seat. I got up to the podium; I was shaking so much I couldn’t even put my jersey on. I had no idea what was going on. They said Windsor and it’s all a blur from there, I don’t remember anything.”

The 6-foot-0 Hall is a lethal offensive player every time he’s on the ice including when he’s killing penalties. He’s shown pretty good chemistry with another Oilers prospect with a knack for scoring goals, Jordan Eberle.

“Hopefully I can make the team next year,” said with his smile permanently stretched across his face. “That’s my first step. We can really recreate some of the magic they had there when you have a young team. That’s something I’m really looking forward to joining.”

The Boston Bruins were left with a very easy descicion. However, they took one final phone call from a team inquiring about the pick. Without a solid offer the Bruins selected from the Plymouth Whalers’ of the OHL, center, Tyler Seguin at the number two spot courtesy of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“I don’t think it matters going first overall.” Said Seguin in his Bruins jersey. “I’m in this situation where I’m going to win the Stanley Cup and that’s every kid’s dream before [dreaming about] going first.“

In Seguin the Bruins get a two-way center with an offensive upside. He’s in the mold of a Joe Sakic or Steve Yzerman. The Bruins will have to make some room for Seguin because they are very deep at center right now. Seguin has stated that if needed he could play the wing.

“I should have a pretty good opportunity there,” he said. “I want to walk in there and hopefully earn a spot.”

Like Hall, the 6-foot-1, Seguin is excited to go such a storied franchise.

“You can tell from the people that are there already that it’s just a phenomenal place to play. There’s so much history there with the Bruins.“

The debate of who will get drafted first overall is over. For the next 15 years we will be debating on who the better player is

Taylor or Tyler.
