Clermont Named Q’s First Star

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, October 4, 2010 – Goaltender Maxime Clermont as well as forwards Brandon Hynes and Gabriel Lévesque today were named the TELUS three stars of the week for the period extending from September 27 to October 3.

Gatineau Olympiques goaltender Maxime Clermont is the first star after recording two wins and an overtime loss in three starts. Clermont maintained a 1.64 goals-against-average and .939 save percentage during that span. The goaltender enjoyed his best outing of the week on Friday, stopping 23 shots in route to a 3-0 win over the previously unbeaten Drummondville Voltigeurs. He was named the game’s first star.

Victoriaville Tigres forward Brandon Hynes is the second star. Hynes collected five goals and an assist in only two games. The Newfoundland native registered three points, including the game-winning goal, in a 3-2 overtime win over the Olympiques on Saturday and followed that performance up with a hat-trick in a 7-4 loss to the Juniors yesterday.

The third star is awarded to Acadie-Bathurst forward Gabriel Lévesque. The Titan sniper registered six points in two games while posting a +2 rating. He recorded two goals and an assist in a loss to the Rimouski Océanic as well as a goal and two helpers in a victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
