Frontenacs’ Moon Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Nathan Moon of the Kingston Frontenacs is the CHL Player of the Week after scoring three goals and six assists for nine points with a plus-minus rating of plus-1 in three games for the week ending October 10.

Moon recorded a career-high six-point game on Friday night scoring a hat-trick and adding three assists as first star of the 8-7 shootout win over the Oshawa Generals.  His performance marks the best single game effort in the OHL this season.  He began his week with two assists on Thursday night in a 5-4 loss to the Brampton Battalion and later added a single assist in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Plymouth Whalers on Sunday.

Moon, a 20-year-old from Belleville, ON, is playing in his fifth OHL season with the Frontenacs and has led the club in scoring the last three seasons.  The 2008 fourth round NHL Entry Draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins currently has 12 points in seven games.

Darian Dziurzynski of the Saskatoon Blades and Nathan Beaulieu of the Saint John Sea Dogs were each considered for the award.  Dziurzynski scored five goals in two games with a plus-minus rating of plus-3, while Beaulieu had three points in two games with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.
