Champion Named First Star in QMJHL this Week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, October 18, 2010 – Nicholas Champion, Ondrej Palat and Simon Després today were named the TELUS three stars of the week for the period extending from October 11 to 17.

Lewiston MAINEiacs goaltender Nicholas Champion is the first star of the week after collecting three wins in as many starts. He won games over the Saguenéens and the Drakkar (2), posting a 1.33 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage as he blocked 67 of the 71 shots he faced.

Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Ondrej Palat is the second star. Palat was brilliant in two games, registering one goal and one assist in a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Foreurs and two goals and two helpers in a 7-1 victory over the Olympiques. The Voltigeurs are second in the overall standings with 22 points.

Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman Simon Després receives the third star. The Sea Dogs defenseman contributed four assists in three wins. Morevoer, he posted an excellent +6 rating.
