Attack’s Joey Hishon Named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Joey Hishon of the Owen Sound Attack is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 24.  In two games Hishon scored four goals and four assists for eight points with a plus-minus rating of plus-4 and becomes the second straight member of the Attack to win this award following teammate Garrett Wilson.

Hishon returned to the Attack lineup on Friday night and scored two goals while adding an assist despite a 7-5 loss to the Sarnia Sting.  On Saturday night, Hishon led the Attack offense with a five-point game in a rematch with the Sting scoring two goals and three assists as first star of the 9-4 win.

Hishon, a 19-year-old from Stratford, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season with the Attack.  Selected in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, 17th overall by the Colorado Avalanche, Hishon has 13 points in only four games so far this season and was recently named to the Team OHL roster for the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series.

Sudbury Wolves’ forwards Mike Lomas and Marcus Foligno were each considered for the award after recording six points in three games.  Lomas scored four goals and two assists while Foligno tallied three goals and three assists.  In goal, JP Anderson of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors earned a shutout victory while posting a goals-against-average of 1.52 and save percentage of .947 in two starts.
