67’s’ Lindsay Named OHL Player of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Cody Lindsay of the Ottawa 67’s is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 30. Lindsay scored six goals including two hat-trick performances in two games while posting a plus-minus rating of plus-6.
Lindsay’s three goals on Friday night against the Barrie Colts earned him his first hat-trick of the season as second star of the 7-4 win. One night later he scored the first three goals of the game for a natural hat-trick including the second period game-winner as first star of a 3-2 win over East Division rivals the Kingston Frontenacs.
Lindsay, a 20-year-old from London, ON, is competing in his fifth OHL season and has played 314 career games with the 67’s. So far this season the overage forward has produced 46 points in 48 games.
A pair of Niagara IceDogs were also considered for the award this week including 2011 NHL Entry Draft prospect Ryan Strome and San Jose Sharks prospect Freddie Hamilton. Strome led the league with nine points in three games scoring once and adding eight assists, while Hamilton found the net three times and added four assists for seven points in three games.
