OHL Eastern Conference Final Begins Tuesday
The Eastern Conference Championship Series for the Bobby Orr Trophy between the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors and the Niagara IceDogs will begin on Tuesday night in Mississauga.
The host Majors made quick work of the Sudbury Wolves, sweeping their series 4-0, while the Ice Dogs knocked-off the Oshawa Generals in five games to set-up a superstar filled battle between two of the best teams in the East.
For those who think the regular season series’ means anything, the Majors dominated in every aspect, taking seven out of the eight games that they played against each other. This included a 10-1 beat down on February 20th.
The Ice Dogs are on a hot-streak in these playoffs however, and shouldn’t be taken lightly. They feature two probable first round selections at this year’s NHL Entry Draft in defenseman Dougie Hamilton and forward Ryan Strome.
The Majors feature a plethora of game-changing players, including Maxim Kitsyn, who joined the team post-World Juniors, Justin Shugg and Marc Cantin – two former Windsor Spitfires – and Casey Cizikas, who returned from injury in the last series, with five points in his first four games.
