One of my favourite sayings in life is: “It takes money to make money”. Some people have more of it than others and with that comes opportunities those so-called others never see. Often these opportunities encompass both hockey and money and so let me explain
Growing up during the mid 1990’s and witnessing records being shattered by Wayne Gretzky came as no surprise to anyone. Afterall, he was nicknamed the Great One, and whether you loved him or hated him, you had to admit, he was indeed the best player the game of hockey had ever seen. Though I never did like Gretz in my younger years (maybe due to the lack of appreciation I had for what I was watching) I have to admit today I would do pretty much anything to spend some time with the Great One and ask few simple questions on his success and life. I never made it anywhere, aside from being a washed up bum in a beer hockey league, and the closest I could ever get to meeting Wayne would be going to a Flames game and having a seat a few hundred feet away from the Great One when he made his routine appearance with the Coyotes.
Wilson had not only inquired about a stake in the Preds, but also had bought the right to go golfing with the Great One
Indeed life isn’t fair. At times like this you can only scratch your head and wonder how some of the most powerful people are so lapse-minded and still have a chance at always being further ahead than you.
