Barrie Colts’ Luke Pither Named Boston Pizza OHL and CHL Player of the Week
Pither lead his Colts to a season opening 9-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack Thursday night in Barrie. Making his regular season debut with the Colts after being acquired in a trade in the off-season, Pither was named first star of the game scoring four goals, three of which came on the power play. He continued his strong play notching three power play goals Saturday night to lead the Colts to a 5-4 overtime win against the Niagara IceDogs. He scored the game-winner 2:42 into overtime.
Gatineau Olympiques’ Maxime Clermont Named CHL Goaltender of the Week
In two starts Clermont earned two wins with one shutout while posting a 1.00 GAA with a .964 SV%. On Friday night, Clermont made 30 saves in a 3-2 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The following evening, Clermont earned the shutout with a 23 save performance over the Val d’Or Foreurs, beating them 3-0. This was his, and the team’s, fourth consecutive win to open the season.
